Sacred Harp - Apparitions at the Kenmore Plantation

Sacred Harp is Daniel Bachman from Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA. His music is psychedelic folk heavily influenced by American Primitivists such as Robbie Basho - that is, amazing fingerpicking passages combined with heady droning ragas. Really worth checking out, this man puts an amazing amount of work into his music.

What a retarded ass name for a band. Its like naming your band "Kiss" without noticing there is already a steep, time-tested cultural investment in that name.

Do you think having a great, original, thought-provoking, "culturally influenced" band name improves the music? Or does that seem to not matter so much when you're actually listening to it and not trying to drop obscure band names at a party?

Or maybe you know of said musical tradition, might even admire it, and want to name your band after it? Either way, love the LP. Thanks for posting.
